Three-times Oscar nominee director Ridley Scott is back with a new star-studded historical drama epic, ‘The Last Duel’.
The story is set in 14th century France, where Marguerite de Thibouville (Jodie Comer) tells his husband, knight Jean de Carrouges (Matt Damon), that his best friend, Jacques Le Gris (Adam Driver), raped her. Upon hearing this news, Jean challenges Jacques to trial by combat.
It is based on the non-fiction book by Eric Jager titled ‘The Last Duel: A True Story of Trial by Combat in Medieval France’. The plot recounts the real-life event of how this matter resulted in the last legally sanctioned duel in the history of France. It covers the country's legal and political history with a touch of relationship drama.
