Following the premise of its previous four instalments, the upcoming ‘Scream’ 2022 will focus on a young woman who returns to her old hometown, only to encounter horrific murder cases connected to a notorious masked serial killer.
The successful franchise returns with the promise of a reboot, although it comes as a direct sequel to the preceding Scream 4. Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, this would be the first Scream of the series not to be directed by the late Wes Craven. The Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett duo is also known as Radio Silence, a filmmaking collective best known for its 2019's ‘Ready or Not’.
Original screenwriter, Kevin Williamson, will be serving as an executive producer, handing over the baton to James Vanderbilt, who also co-produced this meta-cinematic film, as well as Guy Busick. Other producers are Chad Villella, Paul Neinstein, and William Sherak.
